Acorn damage!

I recently noticed that my new-to-me 2006 9-5 has what appears to be hail damage on the hood. A [paintless] dent guy looked at it yesterday and, noting that we have not had any hail this year, asked if we ever park under an oak tree per chance. Come to think of it - yes, we do to keep it in the shade under an oak! On a couple occasions, I have moved it back after hearing acorns coming down (the tree is extremely prolific) wanting to avoid damage. So he wrote an estimate for paintless dent removal, noting that it might actually be less expensive to source a new hood and repaint, to getting every dent out because there are so many little ones. The roof even has some very small ones that you can see at the right angle, which can be fixed, but the headliner has to come down, etc.
I am wondering if this is worth filing a claim, since the estimate is over $2K, or if my ins. agent is going to think I'm full of $#!t and drop me. I could barely believe it myself, but the dent guy said he sees it all the time!
