agree. Better tires should always go on the rear. Doesn't really matter whether the car is fwd, rwd, or awd, or if it is a track car or a minivan. Actually, with a minivan, they often handle so awful (Honda might be better) that they are if anything more sensitive not less... I almost rolled a gm minivan rental at 25mph on a cloverleaf! I'd normally have taken it at double that in any of our saabs!
That said, you might be able to get a discount on 4 tires where you wouldn't with only 2. Especially where it is the end of season. Check that out if you are going to buy 2 more in the spring anyway. Often one can resell a pair of 50% good tires to someone else in your predicament but who plans to ditch the car rather than keep it. Even $100 for them + $100 discount might make it worth buying all 4 now.
