The other large dollar cost that needs to be considered is the cost of the applicnce, potentially $800 or more. New units gain efficiency via better insulation (and your 1982 may alveady have foam insulaiton) and by running smaller capacity compressors nearly continuously. Anything that runs continuously will fail faster than something that is given an opportunity to rest and cool.
We have an AMC brand refrigerator in our basement that came used with our first home purchase 35 years ago. It still runs and does its job as the pop, beer, and additional holiday food fridge. I have researched who made AMC appliances and the closest I can find is a reference to an off-shoot of Kelvinator which were made by Rambler/American Motors/Chrysler depending upon year. We moved the AMC to the basement decades ago to purchase more reliable and newer refrigerators to use as the main 'fridge. It has out-lived two of its replacements!
Beautiful oven! Potential museum piece if you ever wish to need to replace it.
