Let's go through some of the things I've used my 9000 for and see how well a bicycle would do the same job...
* Taking about 200 pounds of old computer equipment to the local recycling center: only about a 4-mile drive but where would you put all the stuff?
* Moving a full load of random stuff home from the office my wife moved out of recently. The weight of everything would probably crush many bicycles and carrying a coffee table and a desk along with about 25 other items at the same time might be just a tad difficult.
* Bringing 5 people to a concert in the city which is about 25 miles away, on a weeknight after work. When it's 40 degrees out and raining... and dark. Even ignoring the unpleasant weather, it would not be possible in the time available... even if we all did manage to avoid getting run over.
* Transporting a 250-lb. snowblower back and forth to my grandmother's house two towns over, during snowstorms, often at night. Would you attempt that?
And those are only four of about 50 examples I could give. I love my bike and even ride it every now and then, but compared to a car I'd give it a practicality/usefulness score of 1 on a 1-10 scale.
