Since you have to go over to the storage yard where they are holding it, see if you can grab a bunch of high value/easily removable parts off of the carcass and call them personal items; ideas include the DI cassette (four screws), radio (need radio removal pins), SID module, BPC valve, battery, etc. that you can use as spares for your remaining car. Maybe even make them a deal ("cash is king") if they are reluctant to let you do that.
I just had to do a similar job with my wife's car - ugh!
