My point! For the price of an Impala or Malibu, you can get a much better
Civic, Corolla, Accord or Camry. I grew up in a small Texas town where you
either bought GM, Ford or Chrysler. Those who ventured into the "big city"
to buy a Toyota or Honda, were soon singing the virtues of the quality and
economy of those brands.
GM has no marketing strategy to attract "everyday folk". Why do you think
their market share continues to dwindle? I'm not saying they don't have
good & reliable cars, they do. But, the competition continues to set the
standard & GM has to play catch up. I still believe in the old adage "what
is good for GM, is good for America." That doesn't mean I can't be a car
guy who's objective!
Let me tell you something about SMALL town America, where a dollar is still
a dollar. When someone buys a Camry or an Accord & puts 300,000 miles on it
with routine maintenance, THOSE STORIES GET AROUND!!!
I know there is alot of Jap bashing on this network. I have never agreed
with it. Honda, Nissan & Toyota took the GM model of excellence in the 40's
50's & 60's, & learned from it. They became the world standard for low cost
reliability & quality. Fat, bloated, arrogant GM continues to live off of
past glory. We all hope & pray they get it. It will be good for America if
they finally do!
