I had an interesting experience a few days ago. I was at the car wash with my silver 96 900S and I went over to the guy at the automatic wash to break my 20 so i could get some quarters for the wand wash. I had to wait as the guy was taking money from a driver in a '99 9-3 (silver). I thought, cool, almost the same car as mine.
After I finished my wash, I pulled out of the stall to dry off the car. The silver 9-3 had pulled out of the auto wash and was drying off too, so I pulled next to it and started to do the same. Turns out the driver was Chris, a guy in my Child and Family Studies program college. We are both seniors, and we both had chamois in our trunks to dry off our cars.
So, I don't really know who shouldn't buy a saab, but I do know that they are popular among guys who are in a female dominated college program (call us unconventional, or really smart?) who, when they tell people what their major is usually get the question "What the hell do you do with a degree in that??" which is similar to "why the hell would you drive that?"
Also, I've noticed that there aren't really any saabs in fraternity parking lots, those guys tend to have the biggest 4WD their parents can afford (not a slam against frat guys, just the majority of them currently at my school, the frat culture has changed a lot here (Syracuse University) from when my dad was a Beta here in the late 60's. I guess if fitting in and being "popular" is important to you, a Saab isn't for you.
