Engine trouble on a 91 900 SPG Posted by Todd [Email] (#958) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Todd) on Fri, 1 Jun 2001 10:13:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Can anyone help me? My 91 900 SPG (127,000 miles) is bucking and jerking and stalling out after long drives. This never happens on around the town driving, but when I've been going 70 mph for about 2 hours consistently, the engine will lose all RPMs, the car will buck and then bounce back up to normal RPMs and acceleration. It had never stalled until Monday when it would buck, stall out and then take about 15 seconds of cranking the ingnition to get the engine to start. I took it to a mechanic who could not reproduce the problem and gave me no diagnosis. A previous mechanic had changed the spark plugs and the problem went away for about two weeks. Now I'm afraid to go on long drives with it. I was thinking it could be the fuel injection or the fuel pump because the power cuts out so quickly and then jumps back into normal, as if it's only getting gas intermittently. Anyone have any ideas?
