When I was driving my old '78 99 Turbo and it starts kickin' and buckin'. I check the fuel gauge and it says I still have 1/4 tank left. So anyway, the car dies and I'm stranded on the side of the road. Luckily enough, right into a church parking lot where I then call the folks. Dad comes out and we decide to tow it home using a rather thick (i'm talking inch and a quarter thick) peice of rope. Which by the way wasn't very smart seeing as i didn't have power assist on the brakes in the 99, yeah my legs got a good workout. Anyway, so we get it in the garage and start tearing into it with the assumption I still have 1/4 tank left. Well, many hours later we decide to check the fuel pump. Dad opens it up and gives me this disgusted look. I'm like "what?" and he says "you're out of gas." "AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!" we both scream into the night air. Put things back together, drop some fuel in and I'm good to go. I think from then on I've always started with the easiest and most obvious answer first when troubleshooting my car. Yeah.
