has the highest per capita of tabacco smokers, yet are concerned about the environment? Bomb countries at will, yet scold the U.S. for pollution and ozone trouble. And, BTW, the ozone didn't suddenly deteriorate in the 7 months since GW has been in office. People seem to have selective memory. Are there enviornmental problems? Yes. But is it the environment which is motivating the EU and Japan to force other countries into "regulation"? If you read the Kyoto "treaty", and there are a few revisions, it's a typical U.N. type doccument with various loop holes and no clear enforcement procedure - except that the EU has the power to police it's members for potential violations. The U.S. has it's own State and Federal regulations that U.S. citizens are responsible for and thus have to abide by or be penalized by U.S. law... not some pseudo-international treaty.
If the EU and Japan (the other countries are merely followers) are in favor of KYOTO then let them sign it and be on there way. Why force the U.S.? Can't they figure out we have are own govt.? Or is that what they're after...?
my 2 cents;-)
