For the 900, the best approach is the Bentley manuals. Not cheap, but well worth the money. Very clear, very complete. The 900 Haynes manual isn't bad, but it's not nearly as good as Bentley. I happen to have the Haynes also, because I'm a manual freak, and one extra picture never hurt.
For the 9000, your main choice is the Haynes manual. It's for UK market 9000's, but it still works. For my 9000, I use the engine section of my Bentley for the engine work, and the Haynes for the mechanical work.
For electrical work on my 9000, I bought the electrical supplement for my year from the dealer. The way Saab works it, they have shop manuals on each system (engine, braking, electrical), and each manual covers one or two years. That's why buying a complete manual set is outrageously expensive, but also unnecessary. You just buy the shop manual for the year and area of interest. The 9000 Haynes manual is weak in the electrical area, so I buy the electrical supplement. It's about $25 from the dealer, and an absolutely fantastic resource.
So for the 9000, I use my 900 16V Bentley for the engine, the Haynes for running gear, and electrical supplement for electrics. That's held me quite fine for many years.
Good luck!
