V6 belt failures

(This is a variant of a response I posted to an old message a couple of days ago; my response got buried under the old date, so I'm trying again.)
On 5/1/01, Gerald Bruce wrote: "I have just experienced the dreaded V6 timing belt failure." Are these common? My 1995 900 SE V6 has only 52K miles on it but has undergone a "drive belt" replacement (the belt fell off at 20K miles, ostensibly due to a faulty water pump bearing--all repairs were covered under warranty), a "camshaft drive belt" replacement (as part of the 35K scheduled maintenance), and a "serpentine belt" replacement (47K miles).
Forgive my ignorance, but are these all the same thing? I was assuming so (the owner's manual refers only to the "drive belt") but am beginning to wonder, especially as each belt has a different part number on the service invoice. (The repairs all took place at the same shop, at 12-18 month intervals. I've also had a "tension bracket" and "belt tensioner" replaced, and these have different part numbers too.) If it *is* the same belt, am I going to have to replace it every 10-15K miles in order to avoid the dreaded failure??
Thanks for any feedback and advice,
JS
