Also use The Independent out of the UK, (example below). This is said to be one of the most pro-US of UK outlets and has some excellent writing, Their stuff was the best during the Kosovo action, whis was no mean feat.
Deutche Welle radio here: http://www.dwelle.de/english/Welcome.html
Vladimir Putin's website http://eng.strana.ru/ (I have a lot of Russian sources if you want 'em.)
Given time zones, aslo try Australia's ABC which gets news from Agence France Presse: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newslink/default.htm. This site is perfect for easy reading (no editorials) of hard news stories at the end of a work day when the Aussies are just beginning theirs.
If you need to bip around the headlines by topic, go to moreover.com and plug in, say, "Colin Powell". After your search results come up, check the copious number of sources listed by topic on the link found below your search under the words
"Browse 330 edited news categories [full list] and 431 unedited categories:"
Given NATO's Lord Robertson's a Scot, and The Scotsman writes a great editorial which is always bang on point, go here: http://www.scotsman.com/
