The black tape is easily replaceable... I've done it on a couple of cars so far. Basically, pick a hot sunny day and park the car with the black tape facing the sun. This will warm it up to soften the adhesive and you can then peel it off in big strips. (If you try and do it on a cold day it will keep tearing into tiny pieces... I speak from experience).

After the tape is off, there will be an adhesive residue which can be removed with "3M Adhesive Tar and Wax Remover" (available in WalMart/K-Mart/PepBoys/etc) Then peel back the rubber weather stripping around the windows if you already haven't done so when you removed the original tape.

You can get replacement tape (Saab calls them "covers") for around $8 each from your dealer. Line it up at the top (with most of the paper backing still on it) and work it down a little section at a time as you peel off the backing, trying to avoid air bubbles. Just use your fingers to smooth it out and force out air bubbles. I was able to get excellent results on the first try...

Another option is to just remove the black tape and leave the paint underneath exposed. On darker colors this isn't a bad idea except for the fact that the tape protects the paint from scratches when people rub their hands, keys, rings, jewelry etc on the door while closing it.
