The S4 was built with very tight tolerances, in a body frame designed originally for the smaller- engined A4. Its engine compartment is jammed
and tightly-packed with its highly complex engine, AWD,etc. components.
It's an engineering marvel. However, repairs are extremely difficult with the lack of space, and the whole engine has to be taken out to get access if the turbo blows and needs to be replaced. Also, the domino effect exists--
one component malfunctions, which spills over to the next, then the next, etc. since they are jammed so close together.
It's a wonderful car, but I pray nothing goes wrong after the warranty
expires! (but the looks and the seats don't match our Saab 9-3)
