I've only had NRWs on my Aero wagon for a week (225/45R17) so I can't yet give a definitive recommendation, but the theory is:
Nokian Hakka NRW tires are neither snow tires nor all-season tires - instead they are all-weather tires, an important distinction. NRWs are designed to operate in between pure snows and all-seasons. All-weather tires are a step up from all-seasons.
The NRWs should be much better than all-season tires in most winter driving conditions and still provide much better handling than pure snows on dry or wet roads.
So far it appears that they do handle much better than snows - much stiffer and no wiggle. The Aero is a fine handling vehicle, and I can't see ruining the handling for 5 months of the year with snows if there is a better option.
The NRWs do sing on some pavement surfaces like most snow tires and truck tires, but they are not as noisy as the OEM Michelins for the 9-5. I'm looking for some winter crud to try them out. Along with the winter comes cold, dense air, and the turbo should fly.
