The C900 -Not a revelation to most, but ain't it cool?

While I was happily turning wrenches on scrips and scraps of old 900 parts cars this weekend, it hit me again how cool 900's are for their ability to always entertain me. Not just as transport, which they excel in, but their innate Swedish practicality and design for survival. I get that same old feeling when I think about the old bugs & rabbits of my past lives....the way they always survive, how every little part can interchange w/ multiple vintages, the fact that one body shell/chassis design is deemed good & practical enuff to last for practically 27 years -(since the 900 is a derivation of the 99)
Yea, I geuss that I get the same kinda feeling helping my brother-in-law work on his Mercedes 300SD, which is also a cool vehicle w/ years of commonality & practicality, but the 900 series really just seems to be the best exapmle of a true "people's car" that I can think of. SPG's if you wanna be real sporty, plain vanilla or S models for the austere, 5-door models for the fam - they're just cool. And, opposed to the "other" people's car, they actually drive fast & on rails! A bonus.
Yep, nothing like a cold November Sunday morn gettin' your knuckles busted over some old 900 gearcases, sucking down that 20 ounce 7-11 coffee, telling your dog to lay down and stop barking at the guy wrenching across the fence. Ain't America great?
