Car audio "test" music preferences

Anyone that's been listening to music for any length of time, especially we children of the 70's, can talk about certain recordings and songs which test the quality of their sound system. Some recordings, regardless if analog or digital, were produced so well from a technical stand point. At the same time I accept that many specific recorded moments may not sound perfect technically, but the performance far outshines any technical flaw. Much of the Who, Rolling Stones and even Beatles can fall in that catagory.
What I use as a measure is mostly bone crunching hard rock. Any system that can handle Humble Pie and Metallica without melting is a good system. Surprisingly, what I've noticed about certain recently produced CD's is that I'll have to do considerable EQ adjustment so the system can handle the flawed recording. My theory being one shouldn't have to do that in this day and age. A good example is the first Silverchair CD, Frogstomp. Seriously over bass heavy to the point where it becomes almost unlistenable. Another surprising example is the latest Def Leppard, Euphoria. Great songs, but for some reason the bass drum is mud and it effects everything else.
A few other near perfect CD's that I often use (and enjoy listening to) are the two recordings from singer Sandi Sariya - excellent singer and exquisitely recorded hard rock songs. Lita Ford is a piker compared to Sandi. Other notable recordings are: Pull by Winger, a remarkable recording both sonically and for the great songs. Yes, Open Your Eyes - the deep bass tones are so clear. Another is the Arc Angels CD. Almost perfect (a Little Steven - E Street Band fame - production).
There's plenty more, but you get the idea. And your choices?
