A few years back I used to be really into the high-end audio scene and contributed to several BB's and mailing lists, but as internet access became the norm rather than the exception those lists turned into pissing contests, or forums for those that "had" to slap each other on the back, and those that "had not" to be made to feel less than worthy. Not my scene. Saabnet isn't that at all -- at least not yet -- and I doubt it will be. That sort of person will gravitate towards the more "conspicuous consumption" type of ride. I'll always respect someone's POV if they back it up with a reason, rather than the sucks/rules debate.
That said, a Saab buddy of mine and I went down to the Saab Club Canada meet at GM. He has a 9k SPG and I've got an 9k Aero. What we witnessed were a bunch of grey haired, rusty old 900, somewhat eccentric whiners who were complaining about the most inane stuff. One confused woman went on and on about how Saab no longer made a hatch until I was embarrassed to be in the same room with her. Anyway, what confused us was that the impression of the "saab driver" one got there was the polar opposite of what we'd come to know here.
I propose some ex-psych. major do up a questionaire and examine trends to nail down what the "saab driver" is. To be or not to be a saaber...
Just my long winded $.02,
Bill
