have these hills everywhere. Last winter, in the "snow storm of the century," I made it up a hill that is at least a 50 degree angle in my 4wd truck. (I'm not sure what this works out in percent grade -- perhaps 50 feet in a 100 feet, but I think it's worse than that.) It is possible to go around these types of hills, but the quickest ways to get to my house all have 30 percent grades or higher. My neighbor had a Saab (900? He's never said what is was), and he has the opinion that Saabs aren't good in the snow because his Saab could never get up the hills that surround our houses. I do not believe that he used snow tires, however. If it ever snows here, I'm interested to see how the Saab 9-3 does.
