After speaking w/ my dad (the master of all), I wired it like this:
Switched power to the pushbutton;
From pushbutton to trigger (pin 30) line on relay;
ground wire from relay;
ignition wire to input on relay;
from relay to ignition.
Now, as opposed to before, the switch doesn't engage the starter unless the key is on.
Much better.
In fact, there are two toggle switches that have to be set before the pushbutton can trigger the ignition.
