Yeah, I do that... Until my insurance company told me they couldn't insure my '80 900T anymore, it was the primary car on the policy. The savings was a couple hundred dollars a year vs. naming my '95 164Q as primary. Now my '86 900S is primary, and the change was miniscule.
What MTN says is true, however, from my casual observations. If the Alfa was the only car on the policy it would be a couple bucks cheaper per year. With the multi-car discount it costs me virtually nothing to add cars. Right now, I've got four cars on my policy ('90 SPG, '88 9000T, '86 900S, and '95 Q) and I'm paying $1400/year for full comprehensive... My policy actually costs about $20 more per year *without* the 5-door on there. heh... pretty twisted.
So, if you want a second car, by all means it's a good way to "save" money, but I don't think it pans out to throw a second car on the policy in an attempt to save money.
