the market is disappearing. What's a horse buggy maker gotta do when cars showed up? Tiny sports coupe market is collapsing. Do you know that category starter of sports cars, the British sportscar industry of post-WWII was born of economic necessity: a high margin export car that would use the least amount of industrial material. Now we live in a world awash with industrial commodity (things got so far that even the purported free trader president has to resort to protectionism for the US steel industry), while medical expense and consequently car insurance rates running sky high. The new trend in sports car is high performance compact to mid-size SUV's that can fulfill family duties. Swiss Army Knife of a car seems to be born of the new economic reality. For Porsche, that means 450bhp propelling nearly two and a half tons of weight. I'm waiting to see how Porsche makes it feel light like BMW has done with the new 745i.
