I am troubleshooting a problem with my computer - it keeps locking up - and I have isolated the problem to the Start menu (not Start-up). These are the programs that run from the Registry when the computer boots up. When I disable the start items, everything works great and snappy.

I have some lines I want to modify, but I am unsure about what the keys mean. They are:

Run
RunOnce
RunOnceEx
RunServices
RunServices-
RunServicesOnce

The second, third and sixth have no entries, but I have some duplicate entries in the others that I want to eliminate, and I want to delete some entries that belong to software no longer installed.

Can anyone shed some light on what the differences are in these keys? I have a Registry back-up utility, and am aware of the risks of screwing with the Registry. But I have to get this problem corrected.
