Not mine, I'd never own one.
But a respected business associate that drives 25,000 miles a year in his business and paid cash (!) for a 2002 Grand Cherokee was late for a meeting today because the Jeep broke down again. The car has had transmission work twice, power steering rack failure & replacement of rack, replacement of calipers and rotors and various other covered by warranty issues. Car does not meet test of NYS lemon laws, he checked. Transmission is acting up again for third time and all dealer wants to do is sell him an extended warranty. According to dealer, take the warranty at a discount and make nice, but complain to Chrysler and he may get nothing. That does not sound too nice. Only 17,000 miles on car.
He does not want to sell it as he would lose a fortune in depreciation on the car. My advice was trade it in and structure a lease that allows 25,000 miles a year. That way he was always in a warranty and it would be Chrysler's problem.
Any advice on how to handle this? Zone office contacts? Corporate office complaint department? Web based source for secret recalls or a way to fight for a new car? Does Chrysler have chronic problems with this vehicle?
Thanks in advance.
