Epoxy isn't a bad low cost option. Couple of problems, first it is easily chipped. Second, if you have a wet soil issue, it will also make it come off (loses it bond to the concrete).
The acrylic types are good for cracking slabs, but don't like the heavy traffic and have the water issue mentioned above.
Personally, I go for a concrete stain and a deep penetration "breathable" sealer (not a film type). Make sure the two products are compatible or you could have other problems. Concrete stain also will have variation in color depending on penetration. This would be oil resistant and chip resistant.
The best would be a ground down "terrazo" type floor or ceramic (not porcelin) tile. Use epoxy grout with the tile...
In the car dealerships I've designed, epoxy (or sealed concrete) is most often spec'd due to price. Because of this we typically have a water proof membrane under the slab; which I'd almost bet wasn't installed under your garage slab. It also goes on over a 1/8" thick and it's not the junk you get at Home Depot. Use a commercial grade for longer life (typical life expectancy is about 10yrs with a good install).
My two cents,
