It may or may not, depending on the date of manufacture. Apparently Blaupunkts in the stores now (made in the past couple months??) have the updated chip and don't exhibit problems. Since the unit has only been out since November, all on the market are still under the one year Blaupunkt warranty, so it will only cost you shipping to get to the service center, and that's it.
The problems fixed - old chip did not resume in the exact location of an MP3 file when you switch to tuner and back to CD, or power on/off, etc. Also, on some units, there were artifacts, best described as chirping, introduced to the playback, not present on the original MP3 file. Not all units exhibited the chirping problem (mine does), but I think they all didn't resume in the exact spot, they started at the beginning of whatever track you were on.
Anyhoo, if you have this unit or it exhibits these symptoms, contact Midwest Electronics for service, very friendly and helpful folk.

Now that these two problems will be fixed, the only remaining issue is the color and the undimmable display. Color can be fixed rather easily, by buying a black faceplate front from Midwest (Houston/Boston/Key West). Some people have put window tint on the front to tone it down at night.
