Still don't get the power thing

If I'm looking at the specs for the new 9-3 correct, the "Vector" has substantially less power than the current Viggen; a difference of 20hp and 37ft/lbs going to the Viggen. It also carries around more weight. Granted it looks like it should handle better, but I'd bet the Viggen would just pull away from it on the highway carrying more stuff than you could ever dream of putting into the new 9-3.
Power is close to the Audi, BMW, Mazda, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. Overall, the power offerings are just in the average range and nothing spectacular. There is nothing in my mind that makes this new 9-3 stand out in it's own defined market. Even the handling enhancements only seem to bring it up to current standards in this market by replacing driver skill & setup with technology & gadgets. In my mind, the new 9-3 is only trying to catch-up with the rest of traffic, but it's not going to get out of the right lane and pass them.
And I'd wish they'd stop attempting to compare it to a BMW; if I wanted a BMW I'd buy one. I want a Saab, quirky hatchback and all...
