I also received it and thought it was pretty lame. Most auto marketing falls under the lame category nowadays- it's funn to see them steal each other's ideas. However, the funnies thing for me is this:

I used to work for a company that allowed auto manufacturers to provide marketing materials to their dealer body that could be easily customized and printed by the dealers- branded and co-branded perfectly, and customized to the the needs of individuals. This material could be printed or e-mailed (ex: XXX Saab has you in their database as being a new parent- why not send a personalized piece of direct mail that touts the 9-5 wagons utililty and safety, particularly for children?) We made that easy to do.

Anyways- I presented this to Saab and The Martin Agency (agency at the time), and they couldn't see the value in it. Instead, they see the value in insipid TV advertising and extremely expensive blank notebooks with little product information.

Unbelievable. On a lighter note- the new 9-3s pricing looks good, but they'll have to sell a bunch to cover the cost of those notebooks!
