Maybe Saab will price the car for what they really want to sell it for and not play the incentive game.

But I don't think so, as incentive based selling works with alternative brands. When you're the segment leader you can puff up your chest, sell as many cars as you can build, and have competitive leases without massive factory incentives owing to higher residuals. Even the king of one price selling, Saturn, has knuckled under to subvented finance and lease deals to move inventory.

The less mainstream your car is, the more gimmicks you need to sell it. This wouldn't be my first choice if I was starting from scratch as Saturn was able to, but I certainly understand why it works and am resigned to making he best of it.
