There were some posts earlier in Nov. about rotors needing replacement with low mileage. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat now. Took my car in for servicing and was told I need new front brake pads and rotors. They replaced front brake pads at 17K miles, which was awfully low mileage considering my I am not hard on my brakes and drive 1/2 time around town (rural suburb) and 1/2 highway. Makes me think the original rotors/brake pad combination was a bad one? Or I had bad rotors all along? I've filed a complaint with Saab USA and will get an answer in a few hours. I'm getting gun-shy since my car died twice ...once needing a new Trionic ECM (prior to recall) at 10K mi., and the 2nd towing at 19K mi. due to bad throttle assembly. (car is automatic). Of course I've had the other headlamp failures etc. others have experienced, but I'm beginning to wonder about the quality of the parts that were used overall when it was built. My brother has a '95 Saab 9000 with 95K mi. and it hasn't needed new rotors yet, and brakes replaced around 30-40K mi. Guess I'm wondering if this is a common problem for 9.5 owners with '99 models reaching the 30K mi. mark. And if so, should we all let Saab USA know of our dissatisfaction.
