self insured retentions, and no insurer will willingly pay a 40 million dollar claim. Saab probably won't get its projected profit on each car, especially if a clever lawyer can show that Saab actually looses 3k on each car it sells in the USA. Saab will be lucky if this incident only costs it a few million, which they can recoup from one of the involved vessels.
