Anytime these "financial" mag does a car write-up, I love to read them. I often wonder if they ever drive the car, or just look in the window. My experience with VW products, since they were referred to above, is this: great feel, lousy quality. Sure, the switches feel and look expensive, but they break often, and are hideously expensive to replace. A lot of black on the interior? Obviously someone hasn't been inside a 325i or C230K lately. Acres of it. Similar quality, too. And as far as the leather - if it holds up well, I'll be happy. While our 95's leather is smoother, I have noticed that it has a lot of memory. that is, lean on the seat, or place soemthing heavy in an area, and it leaves a mark there for a long time. My 9-3SS has no such issues.
There is always a trade-off - good feel or good quality, etc. We have all seen what Mercedes has chosen -they feel good, while quality tumbles. I'd rather have switchgear, etc. hold up longer and give up some feel.
If it holds up anything like our familys' 89 900 Turbo, I'll be very happy in 5 years.
