sealants over wax for durability

Polymer based sealants will always win a durability contest when compared to wax (carnauba, parrafin, bees, whatever). The biggest detrement to wax durability is its inability to maintain protection when the surface is heated. Even the best carnaubas will begin to evaporate at 180*F. A good polymer sealant will maintain protection at 400*F. I'm not talking about PTFE or Teflon which is a scam when marketed with car wax. I'm talking about a product designed to withstand high surface temps.
Polymer sealants can be a little tricky to use - they tend to get streaky/smeary if used when its too cold or too humid. And most on the market have no cleaning ability which means you will need to polish the paint first to remove surface crud, light oxidation, swirl marks, etc. But this is true with the best waxes too.
Some product lines to consider:
*Zaino - widely hyped on the internet, a great product if used correctly, fairly steep learning curve, expensive.
*Klasse - excellent product, Their All In One product is great if you only want to use one product on your car, their Sealant Glaze is a real PITA to use but provides great protection.
*Blackfire - very easy to use, leaves a finish that looks like carnauba but wears like a sealant, available at http://www.properautocare.com
*Platinum - similar to Blackfire, very nice and easy to use.
Hope all this helps.
