The doors and their tracks actually go a bit out of alignment over time and this adds friction and makes the whole thing bind up and harder for the motor to lift. You may need to do all the things others have suggested. I just got new doors, but a few years back I just lubricated the heck out of the track and changed some rollers and it made a difference for a while.
