I think I'd ride out that huge depreciation hit that you've already taken and just keep the car til it's at, for example, 150k miles. The previous poster's suggestion of using the low interest loan to, in essence, help augment you and your wife's total life style costs seems right to me. In other words, amortizing the depreciation over the full life of the car til 150k and augmenting payments with a student loan which will not even accrue interest til she's done (and then only at 4% and then the interest will be fully tax deductible) seems a better all-round solution than pulling in all your boats and getting a cheaper car. I'd speculate that, in the end, if you did get a used 9000/NG900 and did not get the sudent loan it would end up somewhere near the same price as if you just kept the 9-5. The idea that you would pay roughly $20k for a year and a few months of owning a 02' 9-5 Aero seems really extreme to me. Maybe though you're really itching for a change in cars? I'm this way so this is why I ask!
