Hi,

Being a Mac user since 1987 I say welcome!

When you say you want a SuperDrive, you automatically confine yourself to PowerBooks, not iBooks. iBooks do not have an option for a SuperDrive and won't for some time, if ever.
I assume you are using the term SuperDrive correctly in that you want a DVD burner, not just a DVD reader. If you want a DVD reader/CD-R combo, the iBooks have that.

Now for the PowerBooks, the only one under $2k with a SuperDrive is the 12" model. So that makes up your mind for you. Be advised that I've heard this model gets extremely hot, way more so than the others. And be aware that the 12" screen can be somewhat small-feeling. Go play with one at a store and see how it feels.

Now to confuse things for the heck of it. When you are a teacher, you get an educator's discount of around $150-$200 which helps. Also consider waiting until later this summer when Apple will likely be updating and revising the 15" PowerBooks, they may become more appealing, although likely still just out of your price range.

You could look for used ones if you'd rather as well.

Let me know if you have any more questions. The initial switch can be daunting, but once firmly in OS X, you'll love it.
