Agree with your last sentence. Haven't had a chance to walk around one, only seen them on the street so that's the basis of my opinion.
My first Saab was a '74 99LE. With a set of studded Hakka's this car would go where only snowmobiles would otherwise. I honestly haven't been impressed with the snow-worthiness of Saabs since. Sure the traction control is a great thing (used it extensively driving from Ohio to NYC during the PrezDay snowstorm) but any car is a good snow car, given plowed roads, if you know how to drive it. And that's from someone who drove a 240SX for a couple years. If any car could be a candidate for the "Worst in the Snow" prize, that one is.
It's just that I was sold on Saabs as great snow cars but with the low ground clearances of the 9-5's (made worse by the airdam/snowplow) and the lack of all-wheel drive, I've really hoped a more versatile car (ala the hybrids) would be in the offing.
