One of my car magazines that arrived last week had a rundown of recent auction sales held by the big boys. Anway, one of the featured cars in the article was a 348 that sold for around $40k. The auction may have been in Scottsdale. I don't recall any writer comments indicating this was either a Fantastic buy or a poor condition car.
So I guess the nearly $100K asking prices are just owner's wishes. No Reserve auction sale prices are much much lower.
Found the details:
Results from the late January Russo and Steele Auction held in Scottsdale AZ were highlighted in the June Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car magazine which arrived this week. A 1991 Ferrari 348 sold for $41,800. Car had only 43,900 miles, was a Condition 2 Minus original, with receipts totaling nearly $30K for work done in recent years.
Writers compared this transaction price against the average selling price of $48,900 and judged it to be a reasonable buy.
Realize this is a 25 year old car with under 44K miles of use! 1,800 miles of use annually and $30K of service receipts for recent work.
Not a car for the faint of wallet.
