Hello,
The VCDS Ross Tech is pretty good. We do use it for a a fair amount of diagnostic and module set up on a fair number of vw group cars. Reading live data is sort of annoying compared to the Tech 2. The ability to not do keys is also a negative but setting up many of the modules can be done but is a little awkward. Also the ross tech wiki has lots of information to help with diagnosing and programming. Good Luck, Bernie
