Trading my Saab for an SUV? (please be nice! :))

I have a 93 Saab 4 door 900, 135K, nice little car. Needs AC repair, otherwise no problems. (Fan and switch, I believe.)
But - I have the chance to trade it for a 1985 Chevy Blazer with 68K *original* miles. Now, I've been thinking of getting a larger vehicle for transporting large dogs...station wagon or small SUV. (My Saab is my second car, I also have a work truck.)
Now before anyone jumps all over me - I will get another Saab later in the year, most likely. I hate to be Saabless! The 93 has a big minus - it's an automatic, and I would MUCH rather have a 5 speed. Plus, it's the original transmission - shifts just fine, but the thought of having to replace it one day makes me awfully nervous.
I haven't seen the Blazer in person, but have seen photos and it's real clean. Comes with a snowplow too. :) And it would be really, really handy for driving my two Rottweilers for hikes, dog events, etc. My poor little Saab is cramped and I can't fit two folding crates in the back seat, plus dogs.
Off the seat of your collective pants, whaddya think? Dumb idea? Could work?
This is really just in the "thinking about it" phase, but the Blazer owners seem quite interested.
Thanks for any insights.
PS, yes I know a 1985 Blazer is a fairly crappy vehicle. I actually bought one new in 1985 and it was junky. Luckily the ex husband totalled it by sliding into the back of a school bus while it was still under warranty.
