Pontiac G6 = The Gutless Wonder

Am in San Diego and rented a G6 from National. Someone beat me to the last one with a sunroof, so I got one without.
The seats feel fine...for the first 60 mins or so. Then the twitching begins. You can crank up the lumbar support and it helps, but there is still not enough under thigh support. Saab seats really spoil one for anything else!
Outward visibility is only fair. You have to adjust the mirrors carefully to avoid blind spots.
Driving: The steering is pretty tight and the car responds well. Tracks OK.
The one I had had the auto trans with the manual mode which was nice. The thing goes OK if you shift it like that . You can start in 1st or 2nd. BUT if you are in the manual mode in 4th on the freeway and want to pass, it won't kick-down, and there is just about zero poke in fourth from, say 80. You *have* to downshift. But even dropped to third, this car with a 3.5 liter V6 is gutless. From 75 to 85 took about 12 seconds (on a slight down hill on I-5) with the engine making a lot of noise.
OTOH, it is very quiet at freeway speeds and the ride is pretty well controlled, even on some bad pavement where the roads had been dug up.
Nice rental, though, as long as you don't have to drive a long way. I'd like to try it on a nice windy road and keep it in the powerband.
