Got an SRX instead of a 9-7x

I was going to be the first person in the area to have a 9-7x. But the more I looked at certain features -- truck-based vehicle, no navigation, no rear park-assist, only four-speed automatic -- and the fact that my dealer was saying now it was being delay to late May/early June (made me a little nervous that perhaps there are glitches that won't be worked out until the end of the model year . . . .), we decided to go look at competing SUV's. Walked into a Cadillac dealer, and walked out with an SRX V8.

The SRX is the SUV that Saab should have been permitted to use to base its 9-7x on! The SRX has an incredibly car-like ride, performs almost nearly as good as my old 9-5 Aero -- but is quieter on the inside, and tracks better on the highway. The dash already slopes a little to the driver, so it would've been relatively easy to redesign the dash to be Saab-like. The steering wheel looks very similar to the new 9-3 steering wheels, so no complaints there. The seats remind me of Saab seats -- very sporty. Really they would have just had to redo the styling of the front end, and perhaps a little on the back end -- definitely no suspension work, etc., would have been needed as they had to do on the Trailblazer to make it into a 9-7x. If you soften up the sides of the SRX a bit, they look sort of Saab-ie.

Anyway, I'm somewhat sad of leaving the Saab family (though we still have a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc convertible), but such is life!
