I test drove an 02 outback and the salesman told me that the window is frameless so you can’t get your hand stuck up there. To demonstrate he closed his hand in the door (well window actually). No idea if there is any basis for his statement. I should say that it is kind of neat in an odd sense if you get in and out with the windows down.
Talk of strange doors. On the Cheyenne/Toureg the upper part of the door frame, where the window is, sticks further back than the lower door. Makes getting in and out tough, especially in a tight spot where your shirt, coat, etc. can get caught up.
