Just bought this car and it runs and looks like brand new HOWEVER it failed the Ontario, Canada emissions test. It seems to run much too rich - I checked to make certain all hoses and elect. are ok but can't locate the oxygen sensor - can anybody tell me where this sensor is? Also is there a exhaust recirculating valve and where? Thank you - ------------
The test results were as follows :at curb idle--HC -- limit 300 reading 650 -- CO limit 1.50 reading 8.18-----At 1644 RPM HC-- limit 90--reading 334---CO--limit ,50-- reading--8.41 ---- something is terribly wrong-- but what ?? ]NOppm limit--979-- reading--36
Just replaced the Bosh platinums HR9DPX with NGK Platinums - the reach of the NGK seems a bit longer but no problem. The Bosh plugs I removed seemed clean but the electrodes and insulation had a shiny almost wet looking coating - is this what they call GLAZING ? Could this have been the reason the car was running so rich? -- ALSO with my timing light tried to see what the timing was set at -- but all I could see were calibrations and no numbers at all so I left the timing as is.
