I drive a 2001 Viggen coupe. Wonderful, but you need to know the quirks of the Viggen, awesome acceleration especially in the 45-80 range. Harsh ride (say many) with beautiful wheels that have a reputaion of being easy to dent. Great seats. Wonnnnnderful leather seats!!! Heavy torque steer unless you install one of the clamp and brace sets offered. It is manageable, but you defintely need to pay attention. I do not have the kit on mine. I have found that in third gear in the winter, and at full boost, it can break loose the front wheels. I believe this is more a function of the summer tires cold grip being less. Did I say great seats. Shifter is a bit vague.

I keep toying with the 9-2X Aero as a replacement since I LOVE the WRX original and the SAAB rides nicer, but do not like the 2-color seats (or toilet bowl motif) with parchment center (Why no all charcoal leather????). Good deals out there on the 9-2X.

Audi? If that is what you want, if it were me I would await the GTI. Too many colleagues dissapointed in their Audi owner experiences with service and reliability. Plus I do not like the new "mouth" grille or local Audi dealer attitude.

I love the Mazda3 wagon. I was going to buy one and in fact had my sister get one which she loves and has been dead reliable. It is a bit small coming from a SAAB 9000. You may wish to consider the Mazda6 4 door hatchback. That is a GREAT feeling car. I had almost signed on the bottom line when the Lorelei whoosh of the Viggen lured me away.

Of the cars you listed my first choice would be the new Legacy GT. That will most likely end up as my Viggen replacement. Quick, AWD, nice looking, etc. I just wish the Subaru warranty was as nice as the SAAB warranty. I have the CPO on the Viggen and it is great.

My picks, Mazda6 hatch or Legacy. More Mazda and Subaru dealers out there for service. My Viggen is a great fun toy, and I love it, but I cannot see it as the only car. I have a 4X4 Ford Ranger pickup and drove it whenever the roads were bad or I just got tired of shifting in our hateful traffic. If I had to choose one, the Vig would go first. Do not get me wrong, it is a great car, but not a real bike/dog car. I have a dog, and he prefers a less slippery surface... and always walks to the truck first...
