The proportions are good, which is unusual in a Japanese car, IMO. There aren't any weird bulges and angles. Maybe this one was done in the LA design center.
What also surprised me was the headroom. I'm 6'2" and I had a good 3 or 4 inches of space above my head--a lot more than in my 9K. But then, the Altima didn't have a sunroof.
What I forgot to mention in my first post was the brakes. I just assumed the car had ABS, but I see from the Nissan website that it's an option. I was on a two-lane and went to pass a Suby. The road looked clear, but I didn't realize there was a dip ahead that was hiding a car coming the other way. It came out of the dip as I was about at the rear bumper of the Suby. The Suby got on the binders just enough to make things more interesting for me. I nailed the brakes on the Altima. The fronts were fine, but the rears locked up and the back end started to get loose (this at about 70). It was no biggie, though, and I pulled back in behind the Suby. The Altima was very easy to control--some tire noise but no drama. But I find it amazing that ABS is still an option on cars. Bean-counters in action, I guess.
