Some 850s develop problems with the positive battery cable between battery and starter.
That cable is buried inside the main harness so Volvo has come out with an upgraded cable that you route on the outside of the main harness bundle and just cut the old one and leave it dormant in place.
Ignition switch can also cause a no crank scenario while all the other lights are full bright.
Gear selector switch (if auto) is another problem spot so try to move the gear shifter to neutral instead of park when the no crank problem is present.
