we went to look at it saturday down in kankakee and took it for a short drive. Nice looking car, fun to drive in an old fashioned sort of way. decent condition, fair paint job (lots of paint where it didn't belong, apparently it took them three times to paint it right for some reason), started on the first pull, auto tranny worked well, burning a little oil from somewhere but otherwise the engine looked in good shape. radio didn't work.
Story is, some guy bought it, put $13K into it (paid someone for stuff he could do himself, i.e., suspension, carpet and seats), traded it in, was sold to a guy for $3k, now its on the lot on consignment for $4k.
We were looking at it for my friend to bring to florida if he moves there, sort of a fun beater, but it was a hardtop and no air. price was too high for a beater, no seat belts, if it was closer to $2k I'll bet he would have bought it and I could have put in belts. At least I got a good lunch (italian deli meat spread) out of the trip.
