Could be my 50 year old bones are just too sensitive, but I thought the trade-off for tighter handling was too severe for the money on the TL. But on a smooth road, not bad at all, except for the power, as you mention. Transmission working too hard to keep up.
Just drove the G35 and M35. G gives a strong impression of technological advancement from the look to the electronics. Handling is excellent and acceleration from second on really outstanding, but still lags at the lowest end compared to my 9-5. Surprsing at the amount of road noise, transmitted as a thud that got pretty annoying. But I actually hated to get out of it. More fun to sit in and look at than to drive.
The M is more refined. Heavier, and less power, but a very nice ride. Just didn't grab me, especially for 45K. But it is so far the most refined ride, closest to my 2001 9-5 V6. I'm leaning toward that if I can get any kind of decent deal.
Next up: 2007 non-sport Saab 9-5.
